Quick take

Bluebird is our Belmont, 12South, and Hillsboro Village walk-everywhere pick — a 1920s first-floor historic condo that sleeps 4 (king + king sleeper sofa), a 1-minute walk from Belmont’s Fisher Center, a half-mile from 12South’s boutique-and-restaurant corridor, and under a mile from Vanderbilt Medical. You can leave the car parked and have a completely full Nashville experience without moving it.

Built for Belmont graduation weekends, Vanderbilt medical stays, extended remote-work resets, and couple’s trips that skip the honky-tonk chaos.

Why Guests Book Bluebird

1-minute walk to Belmont’s Fisher Center

0.1 miles to the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. Graduation weekends, concerts, recitals — walk out your front door and you’re there. Most Belmont families spend an hour in traffic; you don’t.

Under a mile to Vanderbilt Medical

VUMC is a Level 1 trauma center and one of the Southeast’s major academic medical systems. Travel nurses on 13-week contracts and families staged near the hospital have made this address a go-to.

Private patio entrance + morning coffee view

Your own private patio entrance with seating for morning coffee overlooking one of Nashville’s finest historic neighborhoods. Free on-site community laundry in the basement, just outside your door.

Fully-stocked kitchen — 1 night or monthly

More than a rental kitchen — drip coffee pot, electric kettle, crock pot, toaster, blender, and a true Southern cast-iron setup. Sharp knives, mixing bowls, proper cookware, and the little extras most rentals skip. Everything you need to actually cook whether you’re here one night or one month.

Where You Are: Belmont & 12South, near Hillsboro Village and Music Row

Bluebird sits at one of Nashville’s most geographically convenient addresses. Belmont University is essentially your front yard. 12South — the boutique-and-restaurant corridor with the “I Believe in Nashville” mural — is a comfortable 10–12 minute walk. Hillsboro Village and Music Row are both close by. Vanderbilt is under a mile. Downtown Broadway is a short rideshare when you actually want to be there. Airport’s about 15–20 minutes.

The Bluebird Cafe name is a coincidence. The famous Bluebird Cafe — Nashville’s legendary songwriters’ listening room — is a short drive away in Green Hills. Tickets sell out weeks in advance; check their calendar and book early if it’s on your list.

Running the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon? Bluebird sits directly on the race route. Roll out of bed, jog to the starting corral, come back to your own bed after the finish line — no hotel scramble, no shuttle. Historically one of the more requested race-weekend stays we have.

Getting Downtown

Downtown Broadway is a 7–10 minute rideshare via The Gulch — no highway required. Uber and Lyft from Belmont/12South are quick and affordable. Downtown parking peaks at around $30/hour on weekends, so most guests skip the car entirely for anything east of Music Row.

For Vanderbilt Med, most guests walk or scooter depending on their unit’s exact location on campus. For 12South, it’s a 10–12 minute walk in good weather (bring shoes you can walk in) or a 3-minute rideshare.

Belmont Graduation Season — a Note

If you’re staying at Bluebird during Belmont’s graduation weekends (typically early May and mid-December), you’re in an enviable position. The Fisher Center hosts commencement ceremonies and a packed events calendar. Families traveling in often stay scattered across Nashville and spend an hour in traffic — you’re a 1-minute walk from the entrance. Book early for these dates.

Belmont’s performing arts calendar extends well beyond graduation. Check the Fisher Center events before your trip — there’s often something worth catching.

Where to Eat Near Bluebird

Walkable — Belmont / 12South / Hillsboro Village

  • Proper Bagel — 2011 Belmont Blvd, practically across the street. Real bagels, done properly, with cream cheeses that hold up to New York scrutiny. Open 8am–3pm daily. The Everything with lox cream cheese is the move.
  • Frothy Monkey — the 12South location is a short walk. Nashville coffee-and-brunch mainstay. Solid all-day menu, dependable WiFi, and one of the easier work-from-café setups in the neighborhood.
  • Fido — 1812 21st Ave S. Hillsboro Village anchor since 1996. All-day café, Bongo Java coffee, full menu from breakfast through late lunch. Nashville Scene’s pick for best under-one-roof breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Urban Grub — 12South. Our all-around favorite dinner spot in Nashville — and their weekend brunch is one of the best in the city. Wood-fired everything, standout charcuterie, and a bar that knows what it’s doing.
  • The Henry — Belmont/12South. Newer neighborhood-favorite with a smart seasonal menu and a bar that punches above its weight. Walkable date-night dinner.
  • International Market — 2013 Belmont Blvd. Beloved Nashville institution originally opened in 1975 by the Myint family, one of the first to bring Thai and Lao cuisine to Nashville. Now run by siblings Arnold and Anna Myint. Order early on weekends; the steam table goes fast.
  • Brown’s Diner — 2102 Blair Blvd. Nashville’s oldest burger joint (since 1927), operating in a converted trolley car. Holds Nashville’s oldest beer license and has won more “best cheeseburger” awards than management cares to track. Cash-friendly, cramped, correct.
  • Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint — 12South. Whole hog, low-and-slow West Tennessee-style. Get the pulled pork sandwich, get the banana pudding, don’t argue with the process.

Short drive or rideshare

  • Big Machine — home of Big Machine Records’ hospitality side and a music-industry gathering spot. Craft cocktails, moody lounge, and a rooftop that gets legitimate Nashville skyline light at golden hour.
  • Brothers Burgers — Melrose. Local burger shop that Nashvillians rank above the chains. Griddled patties, no fussy toppings, chocolate shakes that are actually chocolate.
  • Cledis — Wedgewood-Houston. Slice + neighborhood-bar hybrid with a beer program that regulars swear by. Casual, unpretentious, walkable back to Bluebird if the weather’s cooperating.
  • The Chloe — 12South-adjacent. Newer restaurant with a bright European-brasserie feel. Solid oysters, worth the visit for date night.
  • Arnold’s Country Kitchen — 605 8th Ave S. James Beard Award-winning cafeteria-style meat-and-three. Roast beef, fried chicken, country ham, three sides. Monday through Saturday for lunch only — they close when the food runs out, and it runs out.
  • The Villager Tavern — 1719 21st Ave S, Hillsboro Village dive-bar institution. The Villager beer-bowl birthday tradition is one of Nashville’s real ones: on your birthday you stick your driver’s license on your forehead and they pour your beer into a checkerboard dog bowl. Sign the wall. Become part of the room’s history. Cash-friendly, cramped, wonderful.

Bars & Cocktails

Walkable to short-drive

  • The Patterson House — 700 8th Ave S, 5th floor. Nashville’s most celebrated cocktail bar. James Beard-recognized, 1,200+ cocktails deep. Pre-Prohibition precision, house-cut ice, no rail liquor. Reservations recommended.
  • Federales — 636 Division St, The Gulch. Open-air tequila and tacos. Margaritas, ice shots, exactly the vibe you want after a full day.
  • The Greenhouse Bar — Belmont neighborhood staple. Actually built in an old greenhouse. Locals-heavy, quiet corner tables, dogs on the patio.
  • Old Glory — Edgehill. Hidden speakeasy inside a former dry cleaner. Vaulted brick, Prohibition-era feel, one of the best “you’d never know it’s here” bars in town.
  • Never Never — Wedgewood-Houston. Neighborhood cocktail bar with a program that punches above its zip code. Regulars-only feel; ask about the menu, they’ll steer you right.
  • Santa’s Pub — Wedgewood-Houston. Legendary karaoke double-wide. Not a metaphor — an actual trailer. Full commitment to the bit. Best after 10pm. Also convenient if you’re at a Nashville SC match at Geodis Park just around the corner.
  • Losers Bar & Grill — Midtown. Dive-bar-turned-institution with live music most nights, kitchen open late.
  • Red Door Midtown — Yes, the one with the redwood deck off Demonbreun. Casual neighborhood spot, great for a warm-weather beer, easy walk from most Midtown stays.
  • The Local — 21st Ave S, Hillsboro Village. Craft-beer-forward neighborhood bar with a food menu that overdelivers. Great for a low-key nightcap after a Fisher Center show.
  • Springwater — Nashville’s oldest continuously operated bar (1896). No pretense, cash-friendly, cheap beer, wild pool tables. A pilgrimage-worthy dive if you’re on that page of your Nashville trip.

Live Music & Entertainment

  • Fisher Center for the Performing Arts — Your literal front yard (0.1 mi). Professional concerts, student showcases, theatrical productions. Usually something on regardless of when you’re visiting.
  • Mercy Lounge / Cannery Row — One Cannery Row. Long one of Nashville’s premier independent music complexes. Mercy Lounge and Cannery Ballroom have hosted everyone from emerging Nashville acts to touring headliners. Short rideshare from Bluebird.
  • Bluebird Cafe — Nashville’s legendary songwriters’ listening room, in Green Hills. Tickets sell out weeks in advance; check the calendar and book early.
  • Music Row studio tours (RCA Studio B + Country Music Hall of Fame) — Take an hour inside the actual studio where Elvis, Dolly, and half of country music history recorded. Combo ticket includes the Hall of Fame. A better-than-you-expect Nashville morning.
