Music City Magnolia Nashville vacation rental

Quick Answer

Where should you stay in Nashville outside of downtown?

The best Nashville neighborhoods outside downtown are East Nashville (walkable food scene), 12South (boutique shopping), Hillsboro Village (near Vanderbilt), Germantown (historic), Marathon Village (distilleries), and Crieve Hall (quiet, residential). Where to Stay in Nashville (If You Don’t Want Broadway): The Neighborhood Guide

By Music City Magnolia — Women-Owned Nashville Vacation Rentals

If you’ve ever Googled ‘where to stay in Nashville’ and felt every result push you straight to Broadway, you’re not wrong to want something else. Broadway is loud, crowded, and designed for 36-hour bachelorette weekends. This is the Music City Magnolia guide to Nashville’s best non-downtown neighborhoods — from hosts who actually live here.

🚫 Who Shouldn’t Stay Downtown

Families with kids. Broadway noise at 11 p.m. is not optional. Stay in 12 South, Green Hills, or Donelson and Uber in.

Return travelers. Broadway novelty wears out fast. The city reveals itself in its neighborhoods.

Business travelers. Need to sleep and work, not drink and karaoke. Midtown, East Nashville, and Hillsboro Village have strong WiFi and quiet nights.

Foodies. Nashville’s best restaurants are in East Nashville, Germantown, 12 South, and Wedgewood-Houston — not downtown.
